We aim to offer services which are young people friendly. We welcome young people and aim to put them at ease when they come to the practice.
We have compiled some useful information which young people have told us is important to them when it comes to their health.
We have also provided information on your rights as a young person. Please click here
40 Plus Health Checks
Everyone aged 40-74 who does not have a pre-existing heart condition is eligible for a health check once every five years. It is a free check-up of your overall health. It can tell you whether you’re at higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as:
During the check-up you’ll discuss how to reduce your risk of these conditions.
If you think you are eligible but have not been invited, please get in touch with us to request an appointment.

Annual health check Learning Disability and Autism
All patients aged 14 years and over with a learning disability and/or autism are eligible for an annual health check. An annual health check can help you stay well by talking to a doctor or nurse about your health and finding any problems early, so they can be sorted out.
You do not have to be ill to have a health check – in fact, most people have their annual health check when they are feeling well.
If you have a learning disability or care for somebody who does, make sure we are aware of this because not everyone may be on the practice’s Learning Disability register. You can do this by telling our reception team, doctor or nurse.
Once on the register you will receive an invite each year to attend an appointment.

Carers health checks
The carers health check is the same as the NHS Health Check but is about looking after you as a Carer. It will focus on your own health and wellbeing and whether there are any areas you need support with. It is a chance to talk about your concerns and hopes for the future. The check covers the questions which Carers have told us are important.
Please get in touch to book your appointment.
If you change your name, address, or telephone number, please let our receptionists know by calling into the surgery where you will be given a form to complete.
If you move outside the practice area you will need to find a doctor in your new area.

The District Nurses visit housebound patients or patients who are temporarily unable to get to the surgery. Their aim is to provide a high standard of nursing care in the home and improve a patient’s quality of life. District nursing intervention covers a broad spectrum of care from basic wound care to terminal nursing care. The assessment involves not only physical but social, psychological and spiritual aspects of care to meet the needs of patients and their families. In order to do this we utilize and co-ordinate the services of other health professionals to ensure patients and families needs are considered.
We perform a wide range of nursing and medical procedures including:
- Total assessment
- Identify patient needs
- Plan and educate patient’s care
- Health promotion
- Education and advice
- Support and counselling

GPs do not provide an occupational health service as part of their NHS responsibility nor can they provide this service to you even if you are willing to pay for it.
Under Health and Safety Regulations, your employer or University/College has a duty to provide a safe working environment, and should provide this vaccination.
GPs are not obliged to provide the hepatitis B vaccine on the NHS if you’re not thought to be at risk.
We advise you to contact your employer or University/College and refer them to this page on our website. They will be able to make arrangements with an occupational health provider for the provision of any immunisation which you may require following an appropriate assessment.
Our practice Carers Champion is Sinead.
Please let the practice know if you are a carer.
We do understand the impact that looking after someone can have on patients health and well-being and are keen to help if we can to support you to stay as fit and healthy as possible.
One of the ways that we may be able to help is by sharing information that might be helpful to you. With this in mind, included in this pack is a leaflet explaining the services provided by the local Carers Support Centre and details of the benefits you may be entitled to. You are also entitled to an annual Health Check and flu vaccination.
If you feel that there are other ways in which this Practice could help you, we are always willing to listen to new idea.
